Privacy policy

Telani is a service of ASL Information Services Private Limited ("we", "us"), a company based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. Telani answers and places phone calls, and can send text messages, for the businesses that use it ("clients"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the choices you have. Questions go to hello@gettelani.com.
Who this policy covers
- Clients and their staff who use the Telani console. We decide how your account information is used, and this policy covers it.
- People who call a client, or whom a client calls or texts through Telani. We handle your information on the client's behalf and follow its instructions. The client's own privacy notice applies to you, so please contact the client first. This policy explains what we do as its service provider.
- Visitors to gettelani.com.
What we collect
From clients and their staff: name, email, business name and role; a password, stored only as a one-way hash; and the settings, documents and website addresses you add to the console.
On a client's behalf, about the people it talks to:
- phone number, and the date, time and length of each call;
- a written transcript of each call or web chat (we keep the text, not an audio recording);
- the answers the client has set Telani up to collect, such as name, reason for calling, a preferred appointment time or interest in a study, including health information a caller chooses to share;
- appointments booked or moved, messages taken, and follow-up notes the client's staff add;
- text messages sent and received through Telani;
- whether a person agreed to be contacted, and any request to stop calls or texts.
Lists a client uploads: names, phone numbers and other columns the client provides, so Telani can make the calls the client has consent for.
When you use the console: your sign-in session is kept in your browser's local storage. We store your IP address with each entry in the client's activity log, and our server logs record it when repeated failed sign-ins are blocked.
On this website: we set no cookies and use no analytics or advertising tools, and everything on the site is served from our own hosting, which receives your IP address to deliver the pages. The contact form opens your own email app, and we receive whatever you send.
How we use it
- To run Telani for the client: answer and place calls, send texts, write transcripts, collect the answers the client asked for, book appointments and show the results in the client's console.
- To check that changes to a client's receptionist work before they go live, by re-running past conversations as text.
- To keep Telani secure: sign-in checks, rate limits and abuse prevention.
- To support clients, fix problems and bill for use.
- To meet legal obligations, such as honouring requests to stop calls and texts.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use callers' information for our own marketing, and we do not use it to train AI models.
Automated calls and AI
Telani is an automated system. By default, every call includes a notice in the greeting that it may be recorded and transcribed. As a caller speaks, their speech is turned into text and an AI model writes each reply. After the call, AI writes a summary and notes the outcome for the client's staff. These can contain mistakes, so the full transcript is always kept alongside them.
A client may call or text only people who have agreed to be contacted. When someone replies STOP to a text, their number goes on the client's do-not-call list at once. When someone says on a follow-up call that they don't want more calls, their number goes on the list once the call is reviewed. Telani checks the list before every call and text it places, and will not call or text a number on it.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers that help us run Telani, under contracts that limit how they may use it:
- Cloud hosting, for our servers and database in the United States.
- Telephone and messaging carriers, to connect calls and deliver texts.
- Speech and AI providers, to turn speech into text, give Telani its voice, write its replies during calls, write summaries, outcomes and follow-up notes after them, and answer web chats.
- Email delivery, for account and notification emails.
Clients can ask us for the list of these providers.
When a client connects its own tools, such as a calendar, Open Dental, Google Sheets or Slack, we send call information to them on the client's instructions, and the client is responsible for them. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
Text messages: mobile numbers and text-message consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We share them only with the providers that deliver the messages and support Telani.
Where it is stored
We store data on servers in the United States. Our team in Hyderabad, India may access it to provide and support Telani. Our service providers process it where they operate.
How long we keep it
We keep call transcripts, the answers Telani collected and the caller's full phone number for 12 months by default. A client can choose a period from 30 days to 2 years, or keep them until it deletes them. After that, the transcript and answers are deleted, and the call record keeps only its date, length, outcome and the last four digits of the number. Some records are not yet covered by this schedule and are kept until the client deletes them or closes its account: text messages, the internal record of each turn of a call (which can include what the caller said), and study participant records with their check-in answers.
Finished follow-ups and visit records are deleted on the same schedule; open ones stay until the client's staff act on them. Records of consent and of requests to stop calls or texts are kept as long as they're needed to prove consent and honour the request.
When a client closes its account, its data is permanently deleted 30 days later. A record of who opened or deleted data, with the IP address it came from, is kept after that, with phone numbers shortened to their last four digits.
How we protect it
- Data travels over encrypted connections, and passwords are stored only as one-way hashes.
- Each client sees only its own data, and within a client, access is limited by role.
- When someone opens a call or transcript, a caller's saved details, a study participant or an adverse-event report, exports data, or changes a setting, we record who did it, when and from which IP address. The client's administrators can review that record.
- Credentials for connected systems are stored encrypted.
- Phone numbers are masked in our server logs.
- Repeated failed sign-ins are blocked, and new accounts must confirm their email before placing calls.
Your choices and rights
- If a business contacted you through Telani: ask that business to see, correct or delete your information. Its administrators can export or delete your calls, transcripts, messages taken on calls, bookings and follow-ups from its console, and we help it with anything else. To stop calls, tell the business, or say so on one of its follow-up calls; to stop texts, reply STOP.
- If you use the console: email hello@gettelani.com to see, correct or delete your account information.
- Depending on where you live, for example California, or India under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, you may have further rights. We respond within 30 days.
- Grievance Officer (India): you can reach our Grievance Officer at hello@gettelani.com.
Children
Telani is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children, except when a client uses Telani to speak with a parent or guardian about a child.
Changes
We post changes on this page and update the date at the top. Before a material change takes effect, we tell clients by email.
